What We Do

Fabius - Pompey A.P.T.S. supports, funds, sponsors, or coordinates a number of programs, projects, and activities. Listed below are some of the major ones:

Curriculum Support Fund

The fund provides an avenue for teachers to acquire extra needed items or programs for their classrooms. Each grade level and special area is offered the opportunity to place requests for items and programs costing up to predetermined amount. The minimum goal for the overall budget for this program is $5000.

Scholastic Book Fairs

Each fall and spring, A.P.T.S. sponsors a Scholastic Book Fair at the Elementary School. The aim is to encourage the love of reading in all our students, and to provide students and families the opportunity to buy quality books at great prices for their home libraries. In addition, book Fair proceeds benefit Elementary classrooms and specials, and the F-P school libraries.

The fall Book Fair is usually held in October and kicks off with a themed Family Night, including refreshments, activities, prizes and, of course, books! A.P.T.S. also sponsors two contests in conjunction with the fall Fair. "Kids Are Authors" invites individuals or groups of students - even entire classrooms - to submit stories for judging by an A.P.T.S. committee. "Kids Are Artists" invites students to submit posters in line with the Fair theme for decorative display and judging. Winning contest entries are announced at the Family Night event, and winners get to select books from the Fair as their prizes. The fall Fair is open for three days after the Family Night event.

The spring Book Fair is usually held for three days in mid-April and concludes on Open House night. There is also a one-day only "Buy One Get One" Book Fair in June. It's a great opportunity for parents to stock up on summer reading books.
